Nipsey Hussle: A Life
Nipsey Hussle, an American songwriter, entrepreneur, and community activist was a legend in not only his hometown of Crenshaw, California… but a legend across the country. March 31st, he was viciously gunned down in front of his own store called “Marathon” in Crenshaw. People from all around the world were devastated because of all the good Nipsey has done. Nobody expected the tragedy to occur. Popular celebrities reached out to Nipsey’s family and spoke out about how great of a person he was. His funeral was held on April 11 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Within twenty minutes, the tickets were sold out. Nipsey’s legacy lives in his music and different public projects he worked on. Nipsey was a successful rapper and businessman as he invested in different companies. Aside from his personal successes, Nipsey was able to affect his community in a positive way. He infused hope into the younger people from his community and showed them that they can make it out of their situations if they work hard and chase their dreams. Coming up as a young artist in LA, it is very easy to get caught up in the jewelry and expensive stuff, says Nipsey in a 2006 interview. Nipsey later says that it is all about the long run and staying wealthy rather than just spending money. Nipsey was able to advocate for people through his actions, not always his voice. The artist had two children with his longtime actress girlfriend Lauren London. Nipsey’s killer was apprehended just a few days after the murder and was sent to solitary confinement because of a fear that he would be killed in jail. The killer is said to be someone Nipsey knew. There are different conspiracies behind the killing of Nipsey Hussle, but many say that it was just random violence. Regardless of what truly happened, Nipsey will be dearly missed going forward but will never be forgotten. Rest In Peace, Nipsey Hussle.
