Did you get a Love Letter?

review of To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before on Netflix

During the summer Netflix came out with the teen romance movie To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before starring Noah Centineo and Lana Condor. A lot of teenage girls fall in love with the movie, because of the main characters Noah Centineo who is also known as Peter Kavinsky in the movie who is insanely hot and his relationship with his co-star Lana Condor also known as Laura Jean portrayed throughout the movie which is pretty realistic and adorable.

The movie is about a girl named Lara Jean keeps who writes love letters and stores them in a hatbox her mother gave her before she passed away. Not one love letter was written for her, they were all ones she had written. One for every boy she had  ever loved, which would be five in total. When she writes she pours her heart and soul out and reveals things that nobody would ever know, since her letters are for her eyes only. Until the day her secret love letters are all mailed out, suddenly Lara Jean’s love life goes from imaginary to real and out of control.

In an interview with Tiffany Quen, a freshman at Leonia High School, she said that her favorite character was “Peter because of how he treated Laura Jean and how he started the whole fake dating to become closer to her.” She also stated that she could relate to the movie, “I can relate to the part where she could not deal with her emotions of love and tried to conceal it by writing letters.” Later on in our interview she expressed that she “thinks that the movie was so cute and I love how it portrayed how a real relationship can develop between two people and how every girl should feel appreciated.” The last thing she told me was her favorite part in the entire movie, “My favorite was at the end where Laura Jean asked Peter whats the contract for a real relationship because it was such a cute scene and I love how he just said you have to trust because that’s something you do in a relationship.” This is just one girls opinion to the movie, and she shows that only as a freshman she experiences some of the issues as Laura Jean as well. Imagine how many other girls there are.

Some people may say that this is just another cliche teen romance movie, however this movie truly does show what some high schoolers go through on a daily basis. It does not only prove how mean girls and guys can really be to each other, but also how something can be taken way out of context and ruin your reputation.
