Top 5 Fashion Trends of 2017

As the year comes to a close, certain trends have made waves in the fashion world. Whether it be a blast from the past and otherworldly articles, 2017 has been a game changer.

Number 5: Beginning with the accessories, circle sunglasses first made their appearance on celebrities like Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid. It seems that bigger is better when it comes to eye wear. Whether it be for a night out or a day in the park, celebrities utilized this look not only as protection from the sun, but also as a fashion statement. The trend caught on quickly as millenials across the United States rushed to Urban Outfitters and Forever 21 for their very own large circular sunglasses.

Number 4: As summer came to a close, flip floppers turned to adidas sneakers for their shoewear. Their popularity sprung because they are affordable and comfortable. People can easily achieve the sporty yet fashionable look while adorning a brand new pair of white and black adidas sneakers. Whether they are paired with jeans, leggings or dresses, anything and everything goes once you pop on a pair of adidas.

Number 3: The bras out trend has created quite the buzz this year. Started by instagram models, 2017 has made it acceptable to wear shirts that obviously show your bra. Whether it be a holy shirt or only wearing a sweater, the bras out trend was prevalent all summer, however, as it gets colder outside the trend seems to be slowing a bit.

Number 2: Keeping in line with showing more skin, off the shoulder shirts were incredibly popular in 2017. Beginning in the spring, girls across the nation began buying these tops, which can be dressed up or down depending on the style. On top of that, off the shoulder tops allow you to tan your shoulders freely while staying cool in the summer heat.

Number 1:  In one of the greatest comebacks of all time, 80’s mom jeans have become the biggest fad this year. The flattering, hip hugging jeans can be dressed up or down. Everyone from models to high schoolers love them. Although they are not the only 80’s fad to come back, they are the most popular. The fascination with 80’s clothing has trending in the past and will likely continue into 2018.

Overall, 2017 has been a year of fashion do’s and don’ts. These five fashion trends are the most popular, and we will see if they will continue into 2018.
