On January 4th, 2024, Jaden Marchan announced his decision to continue his athletic and academic journey at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Marchan received multiple Division I (D1) offers, including ones from UConn, Rutgers, Nebraska, Boston, and Northeastern, in addition to Georgetown.
Jaden quickly made a name for himself starting from his freshman year. While everyone recognized his athleticism, he truly distinguished himself upon entering high school. Jaden’s dedication to sprinting and track intensified during his freshman year.
His remarkable achievements began to surface during his sophomore year when he clinched victory at the Bergen County Meet of Champions, triumphing over a competitor from New Milford. In previous interviews, Jaden has expressed this win as one of his most cherished moments.
During his junior year, Jaden played a pivotal role in guiding the Leonia Relay Team back to the Penn Relays after a 30-year hiatus. His standout performance in the 4-x-400 relay, with a remarkable split time of 47.21, earned him recognition as the Male Athlete of the Week on May 4th, 2023, showcasing his exceptional talent and dedication to his sport.
Fast forward to December 28th, 2023, Jaden Marchan made his debut in the 600 meters at the Coach Glynn Invitational on Staten Island, clinching victory by a significant margin over the top-ranked sprinter in the nation. This achievement placed his among the top 20 times in New Jersey State history and the fifth-best time in Bergen County history at that time.
On January 4th, 2024, Jaden was once again named Male Athlete of the Week, this time for his remarkable performance in setting records and announcing his college commitment. He continued to excel, clocking the state’s fastest 600-meter time of the year at the Coach Glynn Holiday Carnival on Staten Island and setting the state record the following day at the Armory Marine Corps Holiday Festival, securing the fourth-fastest time in U.S. history.
Jaden’s signing day was a momentous occasion, with over 50 people gathered to support him. Surrounded by his mother, brothers, coaches, family, and friends, the atmosphere was filled with love and excitement. Witnessing Jaden announce his commitment was a surreal experience for all present. His journey serves as an inspiration to many, demonstrating the rewards of hard work and perseverance. Jaden embodies the belief that dreams can indeed become a reality through dedication and determination.
