Green Up Leonia
As we all know, nature is a significant part of everyone’s life. There are so many scientific studies about the benefits of nature, which then brings me to the purpose of this article, which is planting more trees, shrubs, and flowers in and around the LHS property.
Sophomore Emma Vasquez stated “More greenery in the school would be so pretty in this school. The greenery will contrast with the red all over the school and make it look great. I feel like our school doesn’t have much color on the inside or outside so this can be a great touch. Overall, it will just be really pretty to have. Some good places to put this is in classrooms if they have space. This should be a club. I know there will be a lot of people there. I don’t think it would be a good idea to make the whole school do this because people would mess it up and do it incorrectly.Considering this is a a school filled with teenagers especially teenage boys making this a school wide thing would be a mess”
Sophomore Katerina Romanides said “I think it would be nice and look nice visually. Nature is just beautiful overall so it has a visual appeal. The hill in front of the entrance and the circle would be some good places to put these. Some great locations would be the circle in the front of the school, the little pathway to the door, and lastly the Ray Avenue entrance. I think this should be a club for people who just enjoy nature and would like to plant for fun. I personally like enjoying nature but I don’t really enjoy the planting part and this should be done.”
Sophomore Aidan George said “I would feel pretty good because it would be nice just walking around the LHS campus with many beautiful plants and just seeing the bright color green. I think this should be a club for people who just enjoy nature and would like to plant for fun. I personally like enjoying nature but I don’t really enjoy the planting part. Like I said in the previous question, I think a certain group of people should do this because only the people who do this action would care. This is an amazing idea and I think someone should execute this great plan to make the school a little more greener.”
From these responses we can see that it is a mutual feeling of this being a great thing to incorporate into the school. Simple changes like this make people more happy to come to school and improve the overall vibe.
