Volleyball Season Recap

Most of the athletic programs at Leonia High School aren’t given much attention, but when it comes to volleyball, the student body fully supports the program and expresses its school spirit. The team has had plenty of success in the past, making it to the state championships and battling tough Bergen County teams. Captain Maxine Walsh provided the strong offense while Jenny Cho (libero) was the Lions’ anchor back on defense. Together these two carried the team to victory, and the Lady Lions finished their season with a breathtaking 24-2.

In their record this season, the Lions were 21-0 going into the county tournament before they lost to rival Northern Highlands Regional. For big games like these, the students of Leonia High school like to come and support their teams by “bringing the noise” and an army of fans.

The team’s impressive winning season was not enough to bring home any trophies, but the team put forth a brilliant effort nonetheless. The team will look to rebuild next year as senior stars Jenny Cho and Maxine Walsh head to college in the fall.
