Is Climate Change The End?

For recents years climate change more commonly known as global warming has been a constantly talked about issue in the world for recent years. There has been an ongoing debate and dispute of the matter and it’s true danger to the world and its people. One key problem in this surge of climate change is people themselves. The planets temperature has been increasing rapidly compared to past experiences which could mean very big problems for the world. After lots of research many professionals have come to the conclusion that climate change is not only real , but it is at one of its most impactful and dangerous points in all of history. Many recent articles support this theory of global warming’s dangers to the world and this indistinct future for the people living on it. (“What Is Climate Change”. BBC news)

Recently a key term that has been coming up for the past few years is the “Greenhouse effect”. This is mentioned in a BBC news article called “What Is Climate Change?”. The article explains the greenhouse effect as “The greenhouse effect refers to the way the Earth’s atmosphere traps some of the energy from the Sun. Solar energy radiating back out to space from the Earth’s surface is absorbed by atmospheric greenhouse gases and re-emitted in all directions. The energy that radiates back down to the planet heats both the lower atmosphere and the surface.” Due to all  the carbon dioxide emission on the world. This is mainly occurring because of fossil fuel use by humans. This shows that if people showed more initiative in keeping the world healthy it will last longer in capability of letting people survive. (“What Is Climate Change”. BBC news)

Though this issue is clearly an urging matter the president of the united states, Donald J. Trump has a different opinion and take on this crisis. With his own government telling him the facts of the dangerous potential of global warming he is in doubt. After being asked about the possibility of global warming “wreaking havoc” on the US economy Trump was quoted saying

“I don’t believe it.”  A BBC news article on Trump and the government’s action states “The report found that climate change will cost the US hundreds of billions of dollars annually and damage health.” This information shows the threat global warming has to the people and the government and the US president are not taking enough action on the matter at hand. Though it may seem like this is not a current or urgent worry if people want to make a change for the people of the future, they must take action or at the very least some precaution very soon if not now. (BBC News “Trump on climate change report: ‘I don’t believe it’ ”)

One major recent development on global warming is the melting of ice caps in “Glacier National Park”. The rapid melting of ice shows the fast and strong increase in temperature and its quick effect on the world and nature itself. A National Geographic article on Global warming talks climate changes’ danger. In the article it illustrates “it was home to an estimated 150 glaciers. Since then the number has decreased to fewer than 30, and most of those remaining have shrunk in area by two-thirds. Fagre predicts that within 30 years most if not all of the park’s namesake glaciers will disappear. “Things that normally happen in geologic time are happening during the span of a human lifetime,” says Fagre. “It’s like watching the Statue of Liberty melt.”

This shows the pure danger of this matter and its threat to all. (Glick, Daniel, National Geographic). Another article by Alex kirby of BBC new supports this new information of quickly melting glaciers. This article goes in depth on the true speed and danger of this global warming and its temperature. In the article he states “They say glaciers are melting so fast in parts of Kazakhstan that the livelihoods of millions of people will be affected.

They found the area’s glaciers were losing almost two cubic kilometres of ice annually during the later 20th Century” This expands on the need to take action and start change on climate change because of its true effect. (Kirby, Alex, BBC news, Kazakhstan’s glaciers ‘melting fast‘)

All in all, it is time to take a stand and make a change or at least begin to make a bigger change to this epidemic then what is currently being done. Overall the US has to recognize the problem and stand up and rise to the occasion in order to secure a better safety, health, and future for their families to come and the rest of their fellow Americans.
