Wallace and Gromit: The Wrong Trousers is a Masterpiece

Wallace and Gromit: The Wrong Trousers, released in 1993 and made by Aardman Animations, is truly a masterpiece. Winning more than forty top international awards including the Academy Oscar, this stop-motion short film has great animation and an entertaining story to enjoy. It still holds up as a good and interesting form of entertainment I think many people would enjoy.

Wallace and Gromit: The Wrong Trousers is a fantastic and wonderfully animated short film that may be dated but needs to be seen by everyone. You would like it if you enjoy claymation or other films from Aardman Animations like Shaun the Sheep, Flushed Away, Chicken Run, and Early Man. Other Wallace and Gromit short films are also quite enjoyable.

This film greatly exhibited a thrilling and heartwarming story about trickery, deception, friendship, loyalty, justice and victory. Feathers McGraw is a great villain who should be appreciated for his clever disguise and ambitious schemes, and Wallace and Gromit showed their usual teamwork in stopping him. The story is quite intriguing and constantly keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Julianna Chan-Espin, a sophomore at Leonia High School, agrees: “I really liked Feathers McGraw as a character and his dynamic with Gromit. I would definitely agree that this is a short film you should watch.” Although she has not yet watched all of the short films, she enjoyed Wallace and Gromit: The Wrong Trousers and plans on watching the rest.

I have watched the other short films, and I’d say it’s my favorite out of the four. The other films are Wallace and Gromit: A Grand Day Out, Wallace and Gromit: A Close Shave, and Wallace and Gromit: a Matter of Loaf and Death. “The Wrong Trousers was good enough to make me want to watch the others,” Julianna says.

The other Wallace and Gromit films are good and I would recommend people watch them all, but Wallace and Gromit: The Wrong Trousers just has a lot of charm and fun characters, as well as comedy and suspense as you watch to see what happens next, making it very good and my most favorite although I like all of them.

The film’s quality can be shown through the fact that it won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film, the BAFTA Film Award for Best Animated Film, the Ottawa International Animation Festival, Seattle International Film Festival, Tampere Film Festival, Valladolid International Film Festival, Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, Hiroshima International Animation Festival, and many more from 1993 to 1995.

My only complaint is that it only lasted thirty minutes, but I appreciate the film and the well-written story nonetheless. I think it ties itself up nicely at the end and the animation makes up for it. Thankfully, there are the other short films and a movie, Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, which is over an hour long.

I would definitely recommend this short film and others to people, especially people who have seen and enjoyed other work from Aardman Animations. I have a slight bias towards this one because of Feathers McGraw. Matthew Priblo, another sophomore at Leonia High School, says, “This is the first Wallace and Gromit film I’ve seen and I can’t recommend it enough.”

You can watch Wallace and Gromit: The Wrong Trousers, as well as the other short films, on Amazon Prime Video, a subscription video service. I highly implore people to watch this short film and check out other Aardman Animations films, as it is a fun way to kill some time and enjoy the amazing animation, great story, and excellent characters.
